When driving through Derry I also stopped to get a couple of photographs of Celtic Park (Páirc na gCeilteach)...
This is home to the County's GAA teams. Derry is mainly a 'footballing' county, however, the county's hurlers would also play games here.
It is worth noting that Derry GAA didn't play their games at this ground much until the 1980s, early 90s, before than they played in Draperstown. Also since 2013 they have another ground called Owenbeg. Some GAA grounds don't get used very much in comparison to soccer grounds.
ReplyDeleteand Celtic Park was redeveloped in 2007/2008, it was previously an all terraced ground so a seated stand was added and the terracing was improved.
