Down the lane..

After the 5-0 humiliation in the first leg. Hearts were travelling to Spurs in hope more than expectation. The primary objective of most Jambos was to enjoy the experience, whilst simultaneously hoping that any score line was kept to an acceptable level.

The match day turned out to be a fabulous sunny day in London. The Betjemen Arms at St Pancras was the first port of call, followed by a quick hotel check in and a pre match pub crawl which took in venues in Kings Cross, Covent Garden, and Liverpool St before the majority of the travelling support took the over land train to White Hart Lane.

The atmosphere inside the impressive stadium was possibly the best I have ever experienced and Hearts did themselves proud with the game ending in a scoreless stalemate. Jamie MacDonald in the Hearts goal kept a clean sheet by saving a penalty from Harry Kane whilst hearts were unlucky not to score when Gordon Smith’s first half effort hit the woodwork.

Further post match drinks took place around Leicester Square before a (very) late night finish in King Cross and a very weary journey back to Edinburgh on the 9am train the following morning.
